I can't believe it. I am just not ready. But it happened.....the start of school is just days away! I feel like summer just began and now here we are shopping for school supplies and getting ready to meet the teacher. But as I try to adjust to the thought of early mornings, rushing out the door to get to school on time, and homework......I also think of the fun that we get to have at all the school holiday events, running club, and watching the kids perform and grow throughout the year! So to get everyone excited and eager to start the school year, I created some back to school cookies that are the perfect sweet treat for students, teachers, and parents to enjoy!
The cookies I did for students consist of all things school related. Crayons, pencils, apples, notebook paper, "bookworms", and of course a school bus! The best part of these cookies is that I offered personalized apples. These will be so great when surprising your student with a treat to enjoy in his/her lunch box, after the first day of school, or even at the end of the first week of school. These will definitely get all kids excited to be back in the classroom and learning all sorts of subjects!
I didn't want to forget about the teachers.....especially because with all they do for my kids, they deserve so much, so gifting them something sweet is the least I can do for teaching my children for almost 8 hours a day. This year I wanted to keep the sets fairly similar, but wanted to add a little something extra to the teacher cookies to fancy them up. So I included some flowers and added an additional "back to school" plaque with apples....since they are the quintessential gift for teacher.
Now the countdown begins for the first day of school. But let's be honest...the countdown really is for the cookies!
Wishing you all a happy start to the school year!

{Sugar Bee} Cherry Lemon Crab Cupcakes
Last week I had the sweetest request for cupcakes. The request came from students who wanted to make their manager's birthday extra special. So what better way to celebrate a birthday than with cupcakes?!
Because her birthday is in the Summer I wanted to make a light and summery flavor combination, thus I decided lemon cupcakes with a cherry buttercream frosting would hit the spot! My favorite part of this cupcake has to be the pink chocolate crab. Why a crab you ask? Well it was requested that I include a crab as the decoration because the student and birthday girl are both astrology fanatics and fellow Cancerians, and the symbol for the sign, Cancer, is a crab. Such a cute idea!
I hope the birthday girl had a "crab-ulous" day filled with family, friends, and of course lots of cupcakes!
