{Queen Bee} All About My Grandparents

Sunday, September 13th is Grandparents' Day! My children absolutely LOVE their Grandparents and never want to leave their home when we are there. They are so special to all of us and this coming Sunday is the perfect day to let them know how much they are appreciated and loved.

I don't know about you, but buying gifts for Grandparents can be a little difficult as they usually have everything and my kids can pick out the strangest things if left entirely up to them. So doing something a little more special and straight from my kids hearts is always going to score high!

This year I have created a Grandparents' Day questionnaire for my kids to fill out (with my help of course) where they can also draw a picture of themselves with their grandparents. It is definitely very thoughtful and sometimes can be quite funny with the answers they give. I also wanted to give my readers the chance to do this with their own children so that they can celebrate Grandparents' Day by giving their Grandparents something thoughtful to show their love and appreciation as well.

{Queen Bee} My Little Man is Starting Kindergarten!

I can't believe it....my son met his teacher last night and starts Kindergarten tomorrow! When did this all happen? I feel like he was just a baby a week ago. Though it makes me a little sad to know that my son is growing up to be such a big boy, it is also very exciting for his new journey of his new school, learning, making new friends, and having so much fun!

Of course we had to make meeting his teacher special and very memorable. So this year I created a little jar full of yummy treats for the teacher! I created white chocolate and mint chocolate covered Oreos. The white chocolate covered Oreos were made to look like notebook paper with a few letters and numbers written on them. The mint chocolate covered Oreos had an apple for teacher.... and hopefully the grades my child will earn this upcoming year! 

He was so excited to give his teacher his gift, but he is even more excited to get started learning and having fun!

Jake will certainly have a ball in Kindergarten this year!

{Party Bee} 4th of July Dessert Table

Now that my kids are getting older the 4th of July is even more fun to celebrate! They may not fully understand the reason for they day but they know it is about celebrating America and they really love the decorations and look forward to the fireworks! So this year I wanted to put together a little something for all of us to enjoy. But of course since it is just for the four of us I wanted it to be simple and inexpensive but still be very festive. The result was just as I planned....easy, patriotic and fun!

The first thing I did was design the paper party printables of course! After that was completed, I determined what objects I already had at home to use to help cut costs and what goodies I wanted to create that weren't difficult, too time consuming, and of course inexpensive to make. Then it was off to the stores to find a few things to accent the table design.

First thing on my list of goodies to make were cake pops! They aren't too difficult to create and the materials are rather inexpensive. Then I thought chocolate covered Oreos and chocolate dipped strawberries would be easy and yummy.

When I started my search for patriotic decorations, I knew I didn't want to spend a lot, so I went to the dollar store and Walmart. I found the perfect things to accent the table! Walmart had fun and pretty pinwheels which work great as decorations and as toys for the kids! Then at the dollar store I found paper rosettes and glitter star table decorations. The paper rosettes worked really well flanking the banner and the stars added a little bit of sparkle....and who doesn't love a little sparkle!

When I was thinking of what I was going to use to hold the cake pops, I thought the all-American Ball mason jar would be perfect....but I wanted them to be a little more festive so I spray painted them red, white, and blue and made them to look a little more vintage. I absolutely loved the way they turned out!

To compliment the cake pops, I recreated chocolate covered Oreos I had previously made for the 4th of July, but I just changed up the colors scheme a little. Then after looking around on Pinterest for easy dessert ideas, I found chocolate dipped strawberries....super simple and I already had the sprinkles too!

Creating the water bottles was a must since we already had the water bottles and straws and we always need water to help wash down all the yummy desserts! Plus it is hot here on the 4th of July and staying hydrated is important!

 

Finally, the 4x6 frames that I purchased from Ikea a few years ago were perfect for holding signs displaying our love for our country!

I think this year will be extra special for the kids as we celebrate our country's Independence Day! Hope yours is just as special!

{Party Bee} Jake's 5th LEGO themed Birthday!

It has happened....by baby boy has turned 5 and has officially grown in to a little boy! This year he wanted a LEGO themed birthday party because he has been all about the Legos for over a year now. So I gave him exactly what he asked for....everything LEGO! And he thought everything was awesome!

I started with many of the LEGO items that I already had in my son's room...the plastic heads! They were great pops of color and worked as bowls and platters- I love it when decorations are also functional! From there everything seemed to just fall into place. I designed a Lego inspired printable collection to tie everything together. I created even more Lego heads by making chocolate covered marshmallow pops....these were super simple because they already had the shape of a Lego head. 

The edible cupcake toppers were a lot of fun and very easy to make using the Lego figures and brick molds (I found these on Amazon for a great price). They complimented the paper toppers too!

I always like to make sugar cookies using the age my kids are turning and this year I struggled with the design until it hit me like a ton of bricks (hee hee)....I would put a few Lego bricks on them. Easy and cute! I also couldn't resist making the Lego head cookies as well!

I love to make chocolate covered Oreos and I made them very colorful this year. I thought about just leaving them plain, but then I thought what another great way to make use of my Lego figure molds....so on the Oreos they went!

One day I was at the store and came across these little Lego brick lunch boxes...well I thought that perhaps they were too small to hold a lunch, but the perfect size to hold Ghirardelli squares that are wrapped in the printables that I designed. Even better, my son now gets to play with them!
I also had to use the candy blox bricks as party of my table spread...they are just too cute and the kids could actually build with them too, that's if they didn't eat them first!

Water bottles are a staple with my tables, not only are they an inexpensive and cute feature to the table, but they are also necessary to follow all of the sugar that is consumed at my parties! Though, I do provide coordinating paper bags for my guests to take home goodies so they don't have to eat too much all in one sitting!

Party favors are among my favorite thing to create because it is so much fun to see the children's faces when they look inside their bags. This time I created bags to look like Lego bricks and each bag had the child's name to look like the Lego brand. Inside, each child found a juice boxed wrapped in my printable wrappers, a coloring book, Lego figure crayons, and a Lego head jar (made from a baby food jar) with a Lego Minifigure inside.

I like to decorate each table with a centerpiece and this year I thought I would try and be creative while reusing things that would normally get thrown away or recycled. So I made Lego bricks out of Capri Sun boxes, toilet paper rolls, dollar store wrapping paper, and construction paper that I always have on hand. They worked perfectly between my signs and photo frames and added even more color to the room! 

Our food and drink table also needed some Lego fun so I created a Lego head banner, Lego head straw toppers, and napkin wraps with the birthday boy's name.

We of course had to take family photos beside all of the LEGO decorations!

After some fun outside in the sun and playing in the water, it was Jake's favorite part of the day....blowing out the candle and cake!

I had one happy little birthday boy and the rest of the kids had equally big smiles on their face!
