{Sugar Bee} RusticTeddy Bear Baby Shower

A mama-to-be will soon be welcoming a baby boy that will surely be soft as a teddy bear, and just as cuddly and sweet, with tiny little hands, and tiny little feet!

When I got an order for a rustic baby shower, I was delighted to create cookies for a theme that I haven't seen in a while. Teddy bears have always been a classic baby shower theme, but with the new trend of having very elegant showers, it seems that the traditional baby imagery has been lost. So to see a mom-to-be having a teddy bear baby shower with an elegant and rustic look was very exciting. I was also thrilled to try a new technique that I haven't had a chance to try, but have been dying to do for a long time now.
My customer had asked for a faux wood panel appearance to the cookies. I was both nervous and excited to try this technique out. I have been wanting to do this for ages, but never had the request, and now that I had the opportunity to try it, I hoped that it would turn out as I envisioned. Good news, they looked exactly as I designed and I absolutely loved how they turned out!

You may already know, I always love to personalize my sets for the customer, so I added an "H" to the "wood panels" since it is the baby's initial. The final touch for this cookie was the addition of the pretty rosettes. They definitely completed the design and make the cookie look so elegant.
I included a baby plaque cookie since these cookies are celebrating a baby and a mama-to-be. I used another technique for creating a wood look. This time I used a wood grain airbrushed pattern and piped a hand lettered "baby" in a light blue.
Finally, I created a little bear since that was the main theme for the baby shower. I decided on a dark brown bear because I felt it added the perfect contrast to the set. His sweet blue bow gave him the accessory needed for a cute and cuddly teddy bear. This little guy is ready to welcome a baby boy to two excited parents and their family.

Congratulations to the mama-to-be as she celebrates the upcoming arrival of her baby boy! Wishing you a beary sweet and special day!

{Sugar Bee} Pokemon and Pikachu Cookies for Jake's 9th Birthday

I can't believe nine years have gone by since I had my first child, Jake. It seems like only yesterday that we were bringing him home for the hospital, completely overwhelmed with love but also super nervous knowing we had a little life in our hands. But despite the many sleepless nights, diapers, and overall hard work of being a parent, being a mom to my son has been the greatest gift in the world. He was the first one to make me a mom and I love him more than words can describe.
It has been such a joy to see Jake grow and develop. I have loved every minute of watching him learn and see his little personality evolve. He is quiet and shy when you first meet him, but once you get to know him, he is energetic, witty, funny, and super silly! When he is interested in something, he loves it wholeheartedly and very passionately. So this year he became very interested in Pokemon. For the past few years he has had an interest in Pokemon, but when he learned that a movie would be coming out, it spiked his interest! So of course when he got to choose his theme for his birthday cookies, he wanted Pokemon and Pikachu!
The Pikachu cookie was fairly simple as the design was already created, I just needed to execute it so that it looked like the cartoon image (which isn't always as easy as it seems).

I got to have a little fun with the number nine cookie since I was able to design it myself! So I took the number nine and decided to turn it into a pokeball. I am not sure every number would work well for this design, but I think I just got lucky that number nine already looked like a pokeball.

The color palette was pretty minimal; I used red, white, black, and yellow. I really loved how the colors look together...so vibrant! They just make the cookies pop!
These cookies look so cute, they will have my son so excited to celebrate his birthday, he will surely be saying "Pika Pika" on his special day! Happy birthday to my little man, 9 will be a great year!

{Sugar Bee} Cactus Cookies for Zane's 1st Birthday

This weekend I had the pleasure of creating another custom cookie set for a customer whose baby boy was celebrating his 1st birthday! This mama loves a cute cactus cookie and it so happens that her little man has a cactus themed nursery. So when it came to deciding upon a theme, it seems that it was pretty easy....a cactus themed party of course!
I was very excited when I was contacted to create cookies for this special birthday party. I just love 1st birthdays....they are big milestones and the one party that parents can just go a little more crazy than they normally would.

When I was thinking of designs, I had so many ideas going through my head! It was really hard to narrow them down. So I decided upon six different designs using a color palette of various shades of green, white, yellow accents, and a touch of black. I really love the way these colors worked together!

For a first birthday, it is a must to make a number one cookie. I added a cactus pattern using a green sheen airbrush and then decorated it with a cute yellow flower. I also like to personalize a cookie with the birthday boy/girls' name so I took the chubby cactus that I splattered with a little gold luster dust and decorated it with a yellow rosette and added the birthday boy's name so that it highlights that it is his big day. I wanted to include a few different cacti cookies, so I created a barrel cactus and a saguaro cactus as well. In addition to the cacti cookies, I wanted to create cookies that looked like a birthday party, so I made balloon and party hat cookies. The balloon cookie I patterned it with green sheen cacti and featured a "1". The party hat cookie I designed to look like a cactus using the same pattern as the saguaro cactus cookie. They added that touch of fun and whimsy to the collection that is fitting for a 1st birthday party.
I love how this set came together and I hope they are enjoyed as much as I enjoyed creating them!

I am sure little Zane was looking sharp for his 1st birthday party! Happy birthday, Zane! I hope your day was on point!

{Sugar Bee} Piper's Mermaid 1st Birthday Cookies

It will be mermaid kisses and starfish wishes for a sweet little girl who is turning one this week! I was so excited to get an order for mermaid cookies as I have been dying to make some and I was even more thrilled to have been given the creative freedom to design a set that I thought both mama and baby girl would love. Hopefully I did not disappoint!
When I took the order I was told the main colors were aqua, pink, and gold. The color palette was perfect for what I was creating so the rest of the design just fell into place so nicely.

My first thought for the set was to create a little mermaid. I wanted to have a little figure that would represent the birthday girl...but as a mermaid. Let me just say, she is the cutest little mermaid! I added a little flower and pearl earrings just for fun and to add that extra girl touch. But I have to say, her shell bra is adorable and makes me giggle just a little bit.
The next cookie I wanted to make was one that would be personalized with the birthday girl's name. So I decided to make a clam shell that I patterned with gold polka dots and added a little bling with pretty sprinkles at the bottom, much like under the sea treasure. The birthday girl's name completed the design!
I love the look of starfish in a mermaid set, so I couldn't let this set go by without including a pretty starfish. This one I created in pink and patterned in subtle pearl polka dots then I added all the little dots in blue and green. It is such a cute starfish and rounds out the set well.
I always love to design a cookie into a set that includes the birthday boy/girl's name. So I used my favorite number one cookie cutter and patterned the one with a mermaid scale pattern and added a little bit of seaweed for that under the sea look. Lastly, I created a mermaid tail that I patterned in gold scales and sprinkled a little gold luster dust for some extra sparkle.
I am so happy for the way this set turned out and I am very excited for this little one's first birthday party. Happy birthday, Piper! Hope your special day is as "mermazing" as you are!

{Sugar Bee} Cookies for Mama Bear this Mother's Day

This Sunday is Mother's Day and the perfect day to tell all of the amazing moms out there how special they are and that you appreciate all that they do for their family. This year I wanted to create a cookie collection specifically for those Mama Bears who love, support, and protect their children so deeply and so fiercely.
My set consists of a silhouetted Mama Bear that I patterned with pretty pink roses. I added the word "Mama" to emphasize the "Mama Bear" theme. I also included a baby bear that I patterned with small rosettes. Finally I created a double heart cookie that symbolizes the love of a Mama and her baby. Each cookie is decorated with flowers to add an extra touch of pretty.
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful Mama Bears! You deserve a day full of of everything you love!

{Sugar Bee} Teacher's Pet Collection

All week we are celebrating teachers for Teacher Appreciation week, but today in particular is Teacher Appreciation Day. So in honor of these incredible people in our children's lives, I wanted to offer my customers cookies to gift to all their amazing teachers! Though it may only be a small token of their appreciation, even the littlest gifts mean so much because teachers deserve an abundant amount praise and recognition for all the work that they do! So it is so important to show our gratitude, love, and support for all that teachers do this week and all year long.
For my collection this year, I thought it would be fun to create animals or "pets" with a coordinating cookie that I could personalize with the teacher's name. I found it appropriate to title the collection "Teacher's Pets" because of the animals element of course, but also because the students who gift these to their teachers will surely be their favorites and the teacher's pet.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Day and Week to all of the wonderful teachers! We are so grateful for you!

{Sugar Bee} Lots of Hearts for Nurses

Today is Nurse Appreciation Day and an important time to tell all the nurses in your life how much they are loved and appreciated. Again, this year I wanted to offer my customers cute cookies to gift to their favorite nurses, so I recreated my Nurses Have Heart Collection and made a few changes and additions. This time around I added heart patterns to the cookies because it is all about the love for our nurses. I also created a new cookie design option....a cute nurse! I designed three versions, a blonde nurse and a couple different brunettes to try and give my customers options to purchase the one that looks most like their special nurse. I am all hearts for this collection!

It is Nurse Appreciation Week, so you still have time to say thank you to all of the wonderful nurses who do so much to care for others. You deserve so much gratitude this week and every week of the year!
