These cookies were so fun to make and definitely challenged me as I had to come up with designs that not only were graduation themed but also incorporated the school that the graduate will be attending in the Fall. So I decided that I would use the Washington State University school colors, mascot, and acronym as my main designs and then add the graduation elements to the rest of the cookies. The airbrushed chevron added a bit of shine and pattern for an extra touch of fun for a young graduate. I was very pleased with the overall look of these cookies and I hope the graduate loves them as well.
Happy graduation to a very special young lady and best of luck in college!
A sweet little boy is turning 8 years old and to help him celebrate his big day, his mom asked me to create Minecraft themed sugar cookies. Apparently Minecraft is all the rage these days, especially with little boys....my son is totally obsessed with the mini-figures! There are so many characters in the Minecraft game, so it was difficult to choose which ones to create, but ultimately I see the most popular ones to be Steve and the Creeper, thus it seemed obvious that I needed to make those ones. But I also wanted to incorporate the birthday boy's age and a little something extra to add to the cookies and include a little extra color, so I created the TNT box and the number eight, made out of the gray bricks, similar to what you see in the game. I was happy with the way they turned out...my kids absolutely loved them, especially the Creeper! Now to figure out how the game actually works....
Fourth of July festivities wouldn't be the same without chocolate covered Oreos! Thus I created a set that screamed Independence Day, all decked out with a patriotic color palette and big letters that read "USA"! Stars are always indicative of this day and I wanted to coordinate the decor with the cupcakes. But I also wanted to add a small pretty touch to the set so I made lovely little flowers. I love how they turned out. Now it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy a delicious beverage and some fireworks!
In addition to the cupcakes I made the other day, I wanted to make festive sugar cookies to celebrate the 4th of July as well. I have been dying to use my newest Sugarbelle cookie cutters so deciding on designs wasn't so difficult this time around. The cookie designs are all very indicative of the Fourth of July. The plaque cookies were fun because I was able to use text on a cookie....something I don't do very often. Then I used my favorite star cookie cutter and added the "4th" to half of them....at times I just like the simplicity of cookies with just sprinkles on the outer edge. Lastly, I created firework cookies....these I thought rounded out the set by adding a little more pattern to the mix. This set was definitely liked by many....especially my kids! Now on to watching the real fireworks!
